In March 2002 we filled a quarry near Oxford with giant images and weird music. We projected our computer animations onto the sides of the quarry to make it something like a huge science fiction set.

The sound effects and music were being made by members of the BBC Radiophonic workshop who created sound for lots of old TV Sci-fi, like Dr Who and Blakes Seven.

These are the shows we watched when we were kids and they scared us half to death!

You might have seen these shows on the Sci-Fi channel or on video, they always used quarries as alien worlds. For our project we gave people a chance to visit a real working quarry on a dark night and see it brought
to life with our sci-fi projections.

As part of our project we also did some workshops with Faringdon Community College students - you can see a gallery of their images here.
